Car dealer Alan Jay Wildstein has acquired a waterfront mansion in Fort Lauderdale for $26 million, securing the property at a significant discount from its original asking price.
According to public records, Wildstein purchased the 10,700-square-foot residence at 2406 Laguna Drive from Matthew and Lorena Roos. The deal was financed with $20.5 million in seller financing, bringing the price to approximately $1,916 per square foot.
The home was initially listed for $36.3 million on November 24 and sold the following day at a $10.3 million reduction, according to Zillow. Marc Brandt and Jeffery Kotwica of Douglas Elliman represented the listing, while Melissa Barragan with Dezer Platinum Realty represented the buyer.
Wildstein leads the Alan Jay Automotive Network, a dealership group based in Sebring with multiple locations in Central Florida. His family also owns Tropical Chevrolet in Miami Shores, as reported in published sources.
He is an active investor in South Florida’s luxury real estate market. In 2022, Wildstein purchased a unit in Gil Dezer’s Porsche Design Tower in Sunny Isles Beach for $14.4 million. That same year, records indicate he sold another unit in the tower for $6.5 million. In 2021, he sold a waterfront home in Fort Lauderdale for $7.5 million.
Seller Matthew Roos owns several businesses in Florida, including M & L Investment Management, M & L Expeditions, and M & L Aero Sales & Leasing. Records show the Roos family purchased another waterfront property at 2542 Laguna Drive in November for $7.6 million.
The Rooses acquired the 0.3-acre property at 2406 Laguna Drive for $4.9 million in 2018 and built the five-bedroom, three-bathroom mansion in 2021. The estate features amenities such as a pool and a dock.
The transaction with Wildstein is the latest in a series of high-value luxury home sales in Fort Lauderdale as the active season begins. While sales slowed during the summer, retired race car driver Michael Andretti bought a 17,800-square-foot waterfront estate from repo king Patrick K. Willis for $27.4 million in August.
Last year, financier Donald Sussman sold his Fort Lauderdale estate for $70 million, setting a new record for single-family home sales in Broward County.
