After cashing out of Rockstar Energy in a multibillion-dollar sale to PepsiCo five years ago, founder Russell Weiner turned his attention from energy drinks to luxury Florida real estate.
Weiner, who says he recently changed his name to Russell Savage in homage to his father’s radio moniker, started with a pair of modest flips. In September 2020, he paid $32.9 million for two North Palm Beach homes — one on the ocean and the other across the street. The seller was Swedish model Ellen Nordgren, ex-wife of golfer Tiger Woods.
A month later, in October 2020, Savage sold the two homes to billionaire Robert F. Smith for $48.2 million. It marked a 47% increase in about 35 days.
Savage was fresh off the sale of his company, a deal worth more than $4 billion, according to Forbes. The publication also puts Savage’s current net worth at around $5.4 billion.
They bet on luxury real estate in the Sunshine State. Most recently, he signed contracts to buy two mansions in Stone Creek Ranch, an upscale, gated neighborhood in Palm Beach County where his neighbors will include actor Mark Wahlberg. He is paying more than $40 million for both houses. Another flip may be on his radar, though, as he said in an interview last week The real deal that he has not decided what he will do with the properties;
While he said he’s received offers to flip both houses for millions, he added, “there’s more upside.” He called Florida the new Golden State, citing a perceived lack of state income tax, pro-business policies and low crime.
“Everything grows in Florida,” he said.
Here’s a look at his growing portfolio:
9303 Hawk Shadow Lane in Stone Creek Ranch
They are under contract to purchase an 11,500-square-foot estate on 2.5 acres at 9303 Hawk Shadow Lane. It’s on the market for about $22 million with Douglas Elliman’s Senada Adem.
16071 Quiet Vista Circle in Stone Creek Ranch
He is also in a deal to buy an 11,500-square-foot mansion at 16071 Quiet Vista Circle. The 2.6-acre property is on the market with an asking price of $20.9 million along with Talbot Street of Sutter & Negent.
43 Star Island Drive in Miami Beach
In August, Savage paid $35.3 million for a 1.1-acre property at 43 Star Island Drive on Star Island in Miami Beach. The 11,104-square-foot, eight-bedroom mansion previously belonged to former talk show host and comedian Rosie O’Donnell. According to the listing, the property has 200 feet of water frontage, two guest houses, a boat house and tropical landscaping. Savage plans to renovate and expand the estate into a 15,000-square-foot mansion with a master suite, gym, spa, paddle court and cabana. It will likely hit the market for over $100 million.
5300 North Bay Road in Miami Beach
Savage owns a waterfront 5,552-square-foot, five-bedroom, seven-bathroom home at 5300 North Bay Road. Developer and hospitality mogul Keith Menon paid $16.1 million for the 0.3-acre property in 2024, but Savage said he is the true owner. He hired Menin to renovate the house into a seven-bedroom, seven-and-a-half-bathroom home that spans 6,023 square feet. It’s on the market with Marko Gujanovic and a Sotheby’s International Realty’s Red Headnery for $32.5 million.
5011, 5101 and 5111 Pine Tree Drive in Miami Beach
Savage has spent years collecting land for a compound on Pine Tree Drive in Miami Beach. In 2021, Leila and David Santner sold the properties at 5011 and 5111 Pine Tree Drive, on approximately 3.5 acres, for over $35 million. Earlier this year, Savage foreclosed on the median property at 5101 Pine Tree Drive.
Construction on his massive, $100 million estate was scheduled to begin in 2023, but it has been dogged by alleged lawsuits involving his former project manager, Andrea D’Alessio, and D’Alessio’s companies.
