Andaz Casa de Playa designed by QBO3 Arquitectos
Nestled amid the verdant surroundings of Costa Rica’s Papagayo Peninsula, the Andaz Casa de Playa stands as a striking example of harmonious coastal design by QBO3 Arquitectos. The beach club draws its character from a modular volumetric arrangement, creating an ambiance of understated sophistication and relaxation. Central to its concept is a clear spatial layout that seamlessly connects the open-air pavilion to the beachfront, offering guests continuous sightlines to the Pacific Ocean and a truly immersive experience.

At the heart of Andaz Casa de Playa by QBO3 Arquitectos lies the central pavilion, thoughtfully conceived as the primary social space. This main volume contains the dining area and bar, serving as a transparent, open-air hub for gathering. The pavilion’s elevated and lightweight roofline frames expansive ocean views while maximizing natural ventilation and daylight. Flowing directly onto the pool deck, the design blurs the boundaries between inside and out, extending the social experience to the very edge of the beachfront.

On either side of this central space, two additional volumes provide essential support functions. One is discreetly positioned to accommodate culinary and service operations, ensuring these remain out of view and do not disrupt the guest experience. The other is designed with adaptability in mind, ready for future expansion to host events or wellness activities as needed.
The approach to the beach club is carefully orchestrated through a framed corridor, establishing a central axis that leads directly to the ocean. This pathway guides visitors along a deliberate procession, enhancing the sense of arrival and emphasizing the spatial hierarchy as the sea gradually comes into view. The modular organization not only fosters climatic responsiveness and openness but also results in a layout that is both dynamic and unified.
