Something beautiful is taking shape along the Intracoastal at Currie Park, where plans for a new waterfront restaurant are moving closer to reality.

Breakwater Hospitality Group has been selected as the top-ranked proposal to lead the new waterfront restaurant concept planned for the West Palm Beach park, marking a major step forward in the park’s $35 million redevelopment.

City officials recently reviewed presentations from three finalist groups competing to design, build and operate the restaurant at the redesigned park. After deliberations, an evaluation and selection committee ranked Breakwater Hospitality Group first. The group will now move into contract negotiations with the city.

The proposed concept, Sea Salt Beach House, is envisioned as more than a restaurant. The modern waterfront destination would include an almost 400-seat indoor dining spot, covered terraces and open-air seating.  The project also calls for a 320-seat rooftop event space designed for weddings, civic gatherings and community celebrations.

Breakwater is working with Bigtime Design Studios on the project. The concept also includes several public-facing park features, like a family play area, grab-and-go kiosk and year-round programming. Planned activities include fitness classes, pop-up markets, live entertainment, family-friendly events and seasonal community gatherings.

Breakwater Hospitality Group has a growing role in South Florida’s waterfront hospitality scene. Founded in 2018 by Emi Guerra and Alex Mantecon, the Miami-based group operates The Wharf in Fort Lauderdale, Regatta Grove in Coconut Grove, JohnMartin’s in Coral Gables, and PIER 5 at Bayside in Miami.
