This week on Dezeen, we announced all 60 winners of the Dezeen Awards 2025, celebrating this year’s top achievements in architecture, interiors, and design.
Herzog & de Meuron’s children’s hospital was recognised as the architecture project of the year, while Symbolplus Office and the J39.5 seating collection took home the top prizes for interior and design project of the year, respectively.
The sustainability project of the year accolade went to Hydro CIRCAL 100R by Hydro.
Dezeen Awards 2025 also honoured the Designers of the Year, with industrial designer Jo Barnard receiving the Bentley Lighthouse Award 2025.
In the United States, it was revealed that architecture will no longer be classified as a professional degree under President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill.
This decision, criticised by the American Institute of Architects (AIA), will result in reduced loan opportunities for architecture students in the US.
Additionally, it was announced that US architect Robert AM Stern passed away at the age of 86. Stern was the long-serving dean of Yale University and the founder of RAMSA.
Elsewhere in architecture news, a major fire broke out at Hong Kong’s Wang Fuk Court high-rise residential complex. The incident, which is under investigation, has been linked to the bamboo scaffolding and safety netting used during ongoing renovation works.
Zaha Hadid Architects made headlines with the completion of a waterfront stadium and sports centre in Guangzhou, as well as the unveiling of a skyscraper design for Dubai inspired by traditional Emirati embroidery.
