ASWA’s Three-Volume Community Hub for Bangkok University
ASWA has designed HEYDAY, a vibrant new community hub for Bangkok University in Thailand, distinguished by three unique, asymmetrical volumes. The project integrates a co-working space, a food court, and planned restaurants within a single building, making it a dynamic destination for students. Situated adjacent to the university campus, the hub occupies a site flanked by block-like apartment buildings that stretch along a one-kilometer street. The building’s three asymmetrical forms, each topped with curved gable roofs, are intentionally designed to contrast with the uniformity of the neighboring apartments. This lively and distinctive architectural approach aims to draw in students and faculty alike, inviting them to enjoy and utilize the new space.

Curved Interiors and Playful Architecture Define the HEYDAY Hub
To enhance connectivity between the campus and surrounding apartments, the ASWA design studio developed a thoughtful accessibility plan for the site. The two-story hub houses a food court and rental spaces on the ground floor. A striking blue staircase leads up to the co-working area on the second floor, which also features a mezzanine on one side. Inside, the space is characterized by fluid, curved forms that echo the building’s exterior silhouette, creating a cohesive and engaging environment. The second floor also includes two spacious rental areas designated for future restaurants or cafés. With its playful and energetic architectural language, HEYDAY is envisioned as a welcoming space where students, faculty, and university staff can gather regularly, serving as a central meeting place for the entire community.
